SCORING & JUDGING CRITERIA

Scores will be out of 100 and will contain written feedback that will be emailed to you following the competition. Competitors will receive either a merit, bronze, silver, gold, platinum or diamond score. 

Merit 75 & below  |  Bronze  75 - 80  |  Silver 80 - 85 | Gold 85 - 90 | Platinum 90 - 95  |  Diamond 95 - 100

JUDGING CRITERIA

  • General Categories:

    (Covers Categories: Small, large & cuddle)

    Skin (30 points)

    • Overall Colour: Appropriate and realistic color for the doll’s age.
    • Skin Details: Realistic mottling, undertone details, and properly placed, realistic veins.

    Shading/blushing/blending (30 points)

    • Blushing: Realistic and appropriate color and shading; even and natural paint application on fingers and toes; realistic and age-appropriate blushing on palms and soles.
    • Creases: Natural-looking blended and shaded creases.
    • Overall Blending and Technique: Neat and consistent application and color.

    Eyes (15 points)

    • Eye Fit/Neatness: Open eyes should have no gaps, appropriate size and color, no visible glue, OR closed eyes should have defined creases and appropriate shading and detail on the eyelid.
    • Eyelashes: Realistic length, density, and placement, whether rooted or applied.

    Hair (20 points)

    • Hair Quality: Even rooting without visible plugs or clumps, OR neat, thin painted strokes that join realistically.
    • Style/Cut: Realistic flow, swirl/crown, and neat styling.
    • Fine Hairs and Brows: Realistic painted/rooted details and/or wispy hairs.

    Overall Presentation (5 points)

    • Cohesive and realistic overall presentation.

  • Specialty Categories:

    (Covers Categories: Novelty Reborn, Fantasy/Alternate and Any Style)

    Skin/Shading/Blending (50 points)

    • Overall Colour: Appropriate for the style or theme showing good technique.
    • Details: Visible skin details and depth where appropriate. Neatly and well applied.
    • Creases: Natural-looking blended and shaded creases appropriate for the theme or style.
    • Shading/Blushing: Evenly blended and appropriate color for the style or theme.

    Eyes & Hair (20 points)

    • Eyes: Open eyes should have no gaps, appropriate size and color, no visible glue, OR closed eyes should have defined creases and appropriate shading and detail on the eyelid.
    • Eyelashes: If lashes are appropriate for the style or theme, they should be realistic in length, density, and placement, whether rooted or applied.
    • Hair: Any hair painting or rooting should be of high-quality mohair and application, or have neat painted strokes in an appropriate color.

    Specialty Features (20 points)

    • Styling: Overall appearance, including any clothing and accessories, should be appropriate and cohesive for the theme or style.
    • Facial or Body-specific features: Such as realistic features as well as horns, fangs, tails, elf ears, painted special effects or modifications, are well applied and appropriate for the individual style or theme.

    Overall Impression (10 points)

    • Cohesive and creative overall presentation.
