REBORN ART IS MY CREATIVE ISLAND HI, It is Irene Golden, the artist behind Latidos Reborn Nursery. I am based in the south of Spain and started in reborn art about 8 years ago and, since then, I have gone through many stages with the only purpose of finding my voice and betting or defending my style. I don't pretend that everyone likes my work, I just want to feel satisfied with what I do. For me, my work table is an island, a space of freedom and growth. For as long as I can remember I have been a kind of healer of all the dolls that have come my way. Since childhood, I have done it by instinct, like someone who takes in an abandoned dog, because I never made a distinction between ugly or pretty dolls, as they all seemed precious and unique to me, and I made room for them all in my little room. I remember that, in those nursing sessions, I would take advantage of my grandfather's newspapers to prescribe ointments and medicines I cured them, bathed them and, according to the seasons, changed their clothes and modified them at my whim, which often brought a sad end to their hair. At that time, it was not easy to find mixed-race and black dolls and my mother tried to find dolls that, at least, had curly hair like mine, so that I would have a reference point closer to my race. Hence my involvement in capturing ethnicities and races of the world in my dolls, as embracing difference comforts me from that lack of referents in the toys of my childhood. In short, these would be my roots in the world of reborn: a passion that, over the years, has grown and I have perfected until my life has become a nursery of heartbeats.
